Whether your adventure is in Canada or New Zealand, Soul Edge shares the same heart. We want to see you grow spiritually, take on new challenges and become a powerful servant of Christ.
Since the beginning of Soul Edge our motto and goal has been to "Live the adventure. Break down barriers. Bring the kingdom." It's in our DNA!
A good adventure is full of mystery, choices, struggles, triumphs, failures and successes. And that's exactly what life is, what faith is, so we lean into it and see what's out there. We want to equip you for the adventure of faith.
None of us are the complete picture, we've all got things to learn, and in some cases, to unlearn. We have things stopping us from living in our design, or connecting with the Father deeply. We look to identify what those things are, and see what God has to say about them!
We believe you've got an impact to have on this world. We believe there's a leader in you, and we want to bring it out. We want to train and empower you to live in your giftings, to find and harness your boldness.
Meet the people passionate about investing into the leaders of the next generation.
Josh is a visionary leader sold out to the Jesus model of raising and equipping Christian world-changers. He co-founded Soul Edge Ministries with his twin brother when he was 19 and has now led the charity with his wife Kiri for over 16 years. Over the years, he has personally mentored and helped equip hundreds of leaders. Josh also heads up pastoral care at Northgate Church alongside serving as a volunteer firefighter! He's a qualified Hiking Guide and loves spending time in the mountains!
Nobody knows if it's ancient myth or hard facts, but apparently, Josh was locked in a chicken coop when he was younger and is now afraid of birds, and bats... so does that make him the Batman?
With a multidisciplinary approach to apologetics, Kiri is passionate about the clarity, beauty and relevance of the Gospel message gaining traction in human hearts. Kiri has earned her MA Systematic and Philosophical Theology at the University of Nottingham, as well as a BA in Politics and International Relations (Nottingham and McGill). She is also: an adjunct speaker for Apologetics Canada, a Christian Studies teacher, she also has an exciting, theologically engaged book being published. Kiri is also wife to Josh and mom to three rapidly growing children.
It's been said that Kiri reads over 100 books a year, but it can't be true! Can it? To find out, you'll have to ask her yourself!
With over a decade of outdoor ministry experience and leading expeditions all over the world, Seb is well placed in Soul Edge. After launching Soul Edge in New Zealand he brought the Xtreme Character Challenge and the Father Challenge into action. He's seen God do so much in the lives of people through the outdoors and is completely sold out to seeing Him do more of the same! Seb has a bit of a wild side, we're not quite sure what he'll do next...
For example, he has allegedly skinned a squirrel found after it met an unfortunate end with a motor vehicle, then ate it, then hung it's fur on his wall, where it proudly stands to this day... gross... but is it true?
With a Degree in Theology, his own online business, experience at Google and a love for the outdoors, Joe has earned his 'well-rounded' status. But what we love about Joe is his heart and skill at investing into people's faith. You can't not feel loved and valued when you're around Joe!
Apparently, when working at Google Joe stumbled into a board meeting with the CEO by accident, but with the gift-of-the-gab managed to hold his own and give valuable input to the meeting! Can't be true, maybe you should ask him...
Mikayla is someone that just lights up a room with her joy and passion. She has served as leader in both Church and Non-profit organisations along with coaching gymnastics for years! Mikayla is always up for an adventure whether snowboarding or jumping into an ice cold lake, she is the kind of person that just pulls you into the beauty of life.
Word on the street is that MB holds the British record for the highest number of consecutive handsprings! I'll believe it when I see it, ask her to do it!
Tim trained with Soul Edge during our 2020 Canada program. He returned to South Africa and worked for Black Diamond whilst developing his skills in climbing and mountaineering. He loves the outdoors and finds great joy in introducing others to new adventures in the wilderness. Tim also has a deep love for Jesus and has a passion for discipleship, It is rare to find Tim not smiling as he carries so much joy in all he does!
We've heard whisperings of when Tim tried to take a photo of a lioness cleaning her cubs and got a little too close, resulting in a foot & paw race back to the truck - escaping just by a thread! Something you'll have to find out for yourself!
Sacha, the social butterfly! After working for charities and churches back in Scotland, Sacha moved to NZ to lead Soul Edge and serve as a Youth Pastor for a local church. She's got the ability to make you feel cared for, looked after & empowered to grow whilst also leading you into rip-roaring laughter on a spontaneous adventure!
According to the grapevine Sacha was once abandoned in a mountain hut with a busted leg & no water during a heatwave! She almost died until she was rescued by farmers! Could it be true??
With a Physics degree under his belt, his photography freelancing career and mad vibes on a guitar, Dom's got the skills! But His real passion is seeing the power of God transform lives, which is why he lives in a community house & works for a charity in Birmingham focused on the holistic health of those in the area.
Dom has been known to risk his life in the name of FOMAP (fear of missing a photo) and once fell off a two story balcony trying to shoot the sunset! Who knows though, you'll have to ask for some photo evidence when you meet him!
Caleb is a Kiwi lad through and through. Raised on a country farm mustering sheep across the blustery hills, Caleb is at home in the outdoors as we are in our cosy living rooms! He's a man of great integrity and knows how to set a Godly culture as well as how to get things done!
Rumour has it, Caleb once acted as midwife to a pregnant ewe and delivered the lamb whilst carrying them both on his shoulders! But it sounds too far-fetched to me, so you'll have to ask him in person!
Sam left his home town in Northern Ireland to start his travels in 2023 and, without realising it, has found himself attached to Aotearoa New Zealand! After doing Soul Edge he continued on interning at the local church and has come alive in his excitement for ministry, particularly with kids, youth and young adults. He's guaranteed to make you laugh in one instance, and reflect deeply on life in the other!
When gossiping we heard that Sam used to work as a fruit 'n' veg merchant on the streets of Dublin. He apparently can talk at 400 words a minute (normal is 150) when selling his goods! Get him to show you, it's quite compelling, so they say.
Josh planned on coming to NZ for 6 months to help with the new launch in 2020 and has found himself hooked by the Kiwi way of life and remains here today! As the Assistant Pastor at Church Josh heads up Youth & Young-Adults and is incredibly active in the pastoral needs of those around him - it's what he was made for! He loves a bit if healthy competition and the odd prank (which may mean you find a chicken on your face at 3am!)
.It's been said that Josh can dislocate his shoulders and ankles on demand, it's his favourite party trick! To see it for real, you'll have to meet him!

In 2005, when a pair of 19 year-old Canadian twins had a dream of an adventure based discipleship course. The following year, the dream became reality and the first bout of English lads flew out to Canada.
It started out as a course for guys, with its mission phase in Kenya, but since 2009 Soul Edge has been training and adventuring with both guys and girls, and since 2013 our mission phase has been with the First Nation Peoples of Canada.
In 2020 we ran our first Kiwi Soul Edge in New Zealand which then, in 2023 morphed into the Nomad course with mission in Vanuatu.
We all know what happened in 2020, the sickness that shall not be named joined us, and seeing as both the Canadian and the NZ borders were locked down, we ran our first and only Scotland course!
A lot has changed over the years, but our heart to raise up world changers stays the same!
